Job description
Located in Portage, MI, American Inks & Technology is a manufacturer and seller of water and solvent based commercial flexographic printing inks. We produce and manufacture ink for the packaging, food product, plastic and specialty ink markets. As a family owned and operated business, American Inks & Technology specializes in much more than ink, our business is SERVICE and our product is ink. In addition to producing several highly successful lines of water based inks and coatings for use on corrugated, paper, and film stock, American Inks & Technology also manufactures a multitude of inks and coatings for the solvent market. Our successes are based on our understanding of customer needs and our ability to formulate and provide consistent, high quality products that address those needs.
This position is Monday-Friday 7:30 am- 4:00 pm with occasional overtime.
Salary is based on experience.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years experience in ink color matching, pressroom experience, water base inks and solvent applications. Flexo printing experience is desired.
- Demonstrated leadership ability involving the direct supervision of multiple individuals with a wide varying of skill level and develop training programs to create opportunities to promote from within.
- Strong emphasis on the ability to identify set and review quality standards.
- Should have a background in performing at all levels of the Graphic Technician Function.
- Must have a background working with fluid inks, blends, and coatings.
- Understands flexographic ink quality tests procedures and equipment.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to work and correspond with all employees within the organization and our customers.
- Possess excellent time management skills, a team building mentality, and a can do approach to problem solving and the ability to exhibit a sense of focus.
- Proven history of making improvements in efficiency and quality, and implementation of new technology.
- Ability to recognize operational problems and implement changes to correct them.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new methods and procedures that create value for the operation by designing an organized workflow and schedule production effectively to maximize throughput at lowest cost.
- Identify and implement new technologies available in the printing industry, thereby enhancing the company’s products.
- Develop an effective and involved workforce through performance leadership, communication, policies and training.
- Supervise and conduct color matching and formulates ink to specification.
- Supervise and perform standard quality control and inspection processes to insure inks meet or exceed our customer specifications.
- Implement new color matching technology.
- Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to lift and move raw materials weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Must be able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, grasp, balance, twist, bend, climb, kneel, crawl and crouch.
